Are you a ballroom community member who wants to help shape our Community Days and T4T Days?
Ballroom Works is here to honor the roots of ballroom. The culture was created by Black and Brown queer and trans people as a space to be seen, celebrated, and supported. We carry that legacy forward by investing in the people who shape the scene and building what’s needed for them to grow, both inside and outside of ballroom.
Our mission is to create safer spaces where queer and trans people of color feel at home, lift each other up, and shine. Our programs create space for people to grow and express themselves through weekly classes, workshops, community events, and special projects that bring people together and support their creativity.
Our Community Days offer space to gather and connect within the Ballroom community. T4T Days center connection and community-building among trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people (of color).
About the opportunities
We are looking for people with creative perspectives who want to help shape the content and direction of our Community Days and T4T Days. This opportunity is exclusively open to members of the ballroom community.
As a Community Curator, you will:
- Develop creative ideas and concepts for community-centered programming
- Help shape the theme, content and structure of Community Days and T4T Days
- Propose artists, teachers, workshop facilitators, or other contributors who could be invited to take part in the program
- Collaborate with the facilitator(s) and Ballroom Works team on the content and overall vision of the event
As a Community Facilitator, you will:
- Design and lead a workshop, creative session, group activity or conversation during a Community Day or T4T Day
- Guide participants through an interactive format (e.g. ballroom workshop, panel talk, group discussion, skill-sharing, etc.)
- Create a welcoming and structured environment for participants
- Prepare your session in coordination with the Curator(s) and Ballroom Works team to ensure it fits the event’s theme and flow
The Ballroom Works team will take care of all operational and logistical aspects, such as planning, communication, and practical coordination. Your focus will be on the content, facilitation, vision and creative input.
