Vacancy: Treasurer (Board)

Do you have a head for numbers and a heart for community?
We’re looking for a treasurer to join our board and help strengthen our growing organization. This is your chance to make a real difference in the queer community!

About us

We create events, workshops, and programs for the ballroom scene in Utrecht, with a strong focus on queer and trans people of color. Our community is growing quickly, and to keep building sustainably, we need a treasurer who can guide our financial growth and ensure our impact continues for the long term.

What you’ll do

As treasurer, you’ll join the board of the Ballroom Works Foundation and oversee the foundation’s finances.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Preparing financial reports for grants and funders.
  • Developing a financial strategy to support our growth.
  • Drafting the annual accounts and other financial overviews.
  • Supporting fundraising efforts and strengthening our financial base.
  • Monitoring obligations with the Dutch Tax Authority.
  • Reviewing the administration (daily bookkeeping is managed by the Director).

Don’t worry if you don’t tick every box. Some financial knowledge is useful, but you’ll have the chance to learn and grow into the role.

Time commitment
  • Board meetings: once per quarter.
  • Ongoing tasks: 4–6 hours per month on average (a bit more during grant deadlines or year-end).
What we’re looking for
  • Some experience with bookkeeping or financial management
  • Affinity with the ballroom scene and our mission.
  • A strategic mindset and an interest in building solid financial structures.
What you’ll gain

This role gives you the opportunity to:

  • Make real impact: contribute directly to the visibility and empowerment of queer and trans communities.
  • Work closely with others: collaborate with the director and fellow board members in a supportive environment.
  • Grow your skills: gain experience in financial management, nonprofit governance, and strategy.
  • Expand your network: meet new people in Utrecht’s queer scene and the wider cultural sector.
  • Be part of something bigger: join a movement that is actively reshaping culture and community.

This is a voluntary position.
