About Utrecht Ballroom Scene / BALLROOM WORKS
Queer Culture Foundation operates under the name Utrecht Ballroom Scene. We organise events, workshops, and community programs in Utrecht for the Dutch ballroom scene, with a focus on trans people and queer POC.
Our work includes:
- T4T Spaces: community events for and by trans people
- Weekly Ballroom classes
- Community Days: Events focused on building community within ballroom through workshops, dinner, mini balls, etc.
- Our annual Summer of Pride Ball
We have a lot of events to organise and promote this year, so that’s why we’re looking for an intern starting in June until August 2026 to directly work with the Director to make all our plans possible.
What you will do:
You’ll split your time between marketing & communications and event support:
Marketing & Communications
- Event promo: drive sign-ups to our events.
- Social media: grow our Instagram page with new and fresh content.
- E-mail marketing: manage and grow our e-mail list and write newsletters.
- Website: create and write content for our website.
Event support
- Assist with the organisation of our classes, workshops, community programs.
- Communicate with participants and event collaborators.
- Be an on-site helper during events.
- Support with the (financial) administration of events and the foundation.
Events take place in Utrecht.
What you will learn:
- How to run events from concept to execution
- How to market and promote grassroots community events and programs
- How to collaborate with strategic partners, artists, community members
- Behind-the-scene insights into a non-profit in the queer community
What we ask:
- Passion for/interest in ballroom culture
- Eagerness to work on both creative (marketing) and practical (events) tasks
- Fluent in English, Dutch is a bonus but not required
- Pro-active attitude
What we offer:
- Paid fellowship of €280 per month based on 20 hours per week
- Working 2 days per week (Mondays and Thursdays) at our office in Amsterdam near Vondelpark, the rest of your time can be flexibly scheduled remotely
- Travel costs are reimbursed for going to our events in Utrecht, but not for the regular office days in Amsterdam
- A chance to build your portfolio (events, content, campaigns)
