Celebrating Ballroom Culture

About this event

On Sunday September 14th, we’re coming together in Utrecht for a full day of workshops, food, and community care.

14:00 – 15:00 Support Network Mapping

In ballroom, chosen family is survival, but how often do we stop to really look at who’s in our support network? In this workshop we’ll map out the people who have our back. Together we’ll reflect on the care we give and receive, create our own “care maps” to strengthen our support systems.

This workshop is open to all and is facilitated by Mother Andrea Gabbana.

15:30 – 17:00 Mental Health Matters

Mental health is never just individual - our networks shape how we cope, heal, and grow. Friends, family, colleagues and communities can be powerful sources of support, but sometimes also barriers due to stigma or lack of understanding. In this workshop we’ll dive into common challenges, signals, and the role of networks in supporting mental health. Through conversation and case examples we’ll learn how we can truly support each other.

This workshop is open to all. The session is facilitated by Mels 007, relational & sexual trauma consultant/therapist, an early member of the Utrecht Ballroom Scene, and is open to all.

17:00 – 18:00 Community Dinner
18:15 – 20:00 Conflict Resolution 101

Conflict shows up in many ways. The real question is how we deal with it. Do we shut down, or do we find ways to move through it together? In this workshop we slow it down. You’ll learn to find balance, protect your boundaries, while also building skills for healthy confrontation and de-escalation. We will share tools for repair when things break down, and for creating patterns that keep us connected.

This workshop is for the ballroom community only. The session is facilitated by Alyna 007, a former ballroom member who brings experience in guiding difficult conversations and creating spaces where people feel seen, safe and respected.
