Runway classes (Sept - Dec 2025)

The category 'Runway' emerged from the ballroom culture in Harlem, New York from the 1960s throughout the 1980s. Ballroom culture was originally created by the Black and Latino LGBTQ-community to create a safe space in which they could freely express themselves and feel a sense of belonging.

Runway was created to show that members of the ballroom community could shine as much as the fashion world’s supermodels. Learn how to walk like a model, sell your garment and bring attitude and confidence onto the runway.

The classes are taught by JoJo Miyake Mugler. Jo'ellina is a well-known figure in the Dutch ballroom scene. She has made an impression within the international ballroom community with  her runway and performance skills. While travelling abroad she studied with different Icons and Legends to perfect her art and gain more knowledge about the culture and various categories.  Eventually she was able to build a career on various international mainstream platforms.

In recent years, she has actively shared her strength, wisdom, and hope with the newer generations of queer people. She is a role model for many in this regard, and she is grateful and proud to use this position to strengthen and connect her community even further. Her goal and wish is that others don't have to fight as hard as she did, and she achieves this by sharing her story, truth, and experiences. She has been successful in this, and many find her story inspiring.
