About this event

What do we, as trans people, need in order to thrive? OPEN: Collective Care is all about that question. Too often, conversations about trans communities focus only on survival, safety and crisis.

While those issues are deeply important, there’s so much more to life. Let’s shift the conversation to how trans communities can actually thrive, not just survive.

Four speakers, each with a unique background, will share practical insights. How do we show up for one another? How do we create safe spaces? How do we find happiness? Together, we’ll explore a range of topics from mental and physical health to creative expression and community care.

Whether you want to speak, listen or simply be present, you’re invited. Get your free ticket and be part of this important conversation.

The discussion leader tonight is Micha Adarian and the panel members are Umay Deren, Lionel Deul, Bappie Kortram and Anaya Rahimi.

Umay Deren

Umay Deren Akpınar (she/her) is a 23-year-old Turkish trans woman from Istanbul. She fled to the Netherlands in January in search of safety, freedom, and the chance to rebuild her life.

Lionel Deul

Lionel Deul (he/him) is a community organiser and proud member of the Dutch ballroom scene. His focus lies in making spaces for BIPOC trans people, specifically transmasculine individuals, and being a voice for the multiplicity of the trans experience.

Anaya Rahimi

Anaya Rahimi (she/her) is a human rights activist, actor, and stand-up comedian from Pakistan, widely recognized for her work with multinational companies and in the HIV sector.

Bappie Kortram

Bappie (he/him) also known as Tranye West is just a random trans, Black, and fat body-positive influencer who blends art, activism, and fashion. Through modeling, campaigns, events, and humor, he’s reshaping narratives around gender, size, race, and what it means to be "just a dude.” His Instagram is a vibrant space of authenticity - showing that masculinity and queerness, comfort, style and just being a little goofy can coexist beautifully.

This meeting is exclusively for transgender people.
